live:

This post is all about color.  So to start off, I scoured the web and came up with a list of my fave pantone products. I love them all.

I feel like when I’m looking for bright tights & leggings, I always end up in American Apparel. Perfect fit for dancing to the song below! Usually this happens directly before an 80s party, but since these colors are back in style, I might just start wearing them day to day :)

Calvin-HarrisThe perfect song for any discussion about color is “Colours” by Calvin Harris. I stumbled across this track when looking for a good theme song for my Color Run team.  It has the perfect amount of energy to get everyone amped up for a colorful 5k. Calvin Harris is a Scottish DJ/singer with an electropop sound.  I suggest you check him out if you wanna dance!

don’t you call anybody else baby

live:

We’re getting ready to welcome the first baby into the immediate family.  I have 2 sisters, one older, one younger, and the older isn’t even remotely interested in having children, and I am busy moving about the country and things like that. So we left it up to the youngest.  Never one to disappoint, my little sister announced the future arrival of Little Baby B shortly after I moved to TX.  I just headed back to STL to help put on the awesome Owl/Fall themed shower.  It was all sorts of adorable. Just some of the shots from the party below! And check out the awesome owl quilt my Great Aunt Vicki stitched up.  Amazing, right?

And goodness, when did baby clothes and toys get so fantastically cute? My sister received so much fantastically cute stuff at her baby shower last weekend. I literally almost died from cuteness overload.  There were a few themes, though: elephants, owls and guitars.  And you better believe this little fella will turn out to be a rocker.  I got him the guitar pillow below to be sure of it. I did a little last minute shopping at City Sprouts in the St Louis Loop and after I spotted it, I simply couldn’t leave without purchasing it.

Lately I’ve been digging the dreamy and psychedelic sounds of the girl band Warpaint.  It is also quite fitting for this post that they sing a song called “Baby”.   The four girls originate from SoCal, and their songs are restless and even grungy at times, but definitely worth a listen.

my mind it tends to run away with the small ideas

Brightly colored chairs get me every time.  Here are some created by doble M Design that I could totally see hanging out in my backyard.

I’ve always loved the Fossil look and I’ve been wearing Fossil handbags as my primary purses for years now.  I’ve been through a few really great crossbody bags lately, but when I went to replace my last one that was getting a bit old and worn, I opted for something a bit more grown-up, I suppose.  It still has the really great fossil colors and patterns, but isn’t quite as informal as the crossbody style which tends to kill my attempts to look businessey on a daily basis.  I realize that is not a word, but I wasn’t feeling “businesslike”.

Anyway, I’ve had this bag…erm, satchel…for about a week now and I’m really digging it.  Though I do miss it the messenger bag feel and look of the crossbody.  All part of growing up, I guess!

Check it.

Once again I was playing an old mix-cd…this one was about 2 years old from my IL days.  I forgot how much I used to dig the song “Oh Dear” by Matt Costa…he’s a former skateboarder pro turned singer-songwriter. His songs are poppy and pleasant, and his voice is smoooooth.

Matt Costa - Oh Dear

Sometimes it rains, sometimes it pours
Sometimes I’m not that sure
But anytime you look at me
Your thoughts I cant ignore

Is it worse to smile falsely or to frown?

live:

Did you ever read Domino magazine before it disappeared?  I’m really disappointed that it’s gone, but glad someone has decided to create a place to capture many of the images.  Check out the flickr acct where they all live! I haven’t decided how I’ll organize my photo/print wall yet, but these are some of the photos (via Domino) that I’ve been considering…favorites?

wear:

I’m attempting to fully take advantage of spring by wearing as many skirts and dresses.  This cute, flowy skirt from Tulle really caught my eye.  The cut-out is an adorable little touch.  AND pockets.  Goodness, I love pockets in my skirts.  Also, I should mention it is quite affordable at just $38!

listen:

Jeremy Warmsley = Delicious half-french singer-songerwriter.  He has a Decemberists-like sound that I just love.  Give it a listen!

You’ll see to that, but how long will it last

we are beautiful, we are doomed

Live:

I’ve been thinking about a new bed lately.  While the comforter make a huge difference, I really think the headboard makes the greatest statement.  It actually defines the bed and carves out it’s place in the room.  So right now, my bed is super lame.  Just  platform bed, nothing terrible exciting (it IS yellow, though), but I’d really like something like this (saw it on Living etc, wonderful ideas there!).

I love the contrast of the funky material against the very neutral, antique-y look.  This would be a fantastic place to sleep…hopefully I can come up with something similar in the near future.

Ideas, anyone?

Wear:

I don’t wear nearly enough navy.  I’m not sure why that is, but I hope to step it up soon.  So maybe this shirt from ASOS would do the trick?  The ruffles give it an innocent vibe, while pairing it with black leggings makes it seem more sophisticated…I think I would wear this to work.  Or on a date?!

Listen:

Okay, this indie-pop group from Wales looks like they would be incredibly fun to hang with.  Not to mention the fact that they make music I really want to dance to.  We could hang out. And dance!

los campesinos! – we are beautiful, we are doomed

I taught myself the only way to vaguely get along in love
Is to like the other slightly less than you get in return
I keep feeling like I’m being undercut
